Rack-Up

Rack-Up...
A blend of Calcium, Phosphorous, Magnesium, Sodium & other minerals blended
in with the beneficial attractants of Deer Cane to supply deer with nutrients...
in a form they love to eat. At Evolved Habitats, we have been making and using
beneficial minerals to attract deer for years and have learned a lot about deer,
deer habits and deer habitats. RACK-UP is the blend of minerals that we have
developed to create new supplemental mineral sites and to keep established Deer
Cane sites active, while increasing their nutrient value. RACK-UP allows you to
grow bigger, healthier deer by providing a beneficial, mineral mix... that deer
love to paw, knaw & lick right out of the ground.

The
Vital Four (Ca-P-Mg-Na)
Major
Functions of Calcium
-A vital mineral in bone, teeth & antler formation.
-Works in nerve and muscle functions.
-Essential for milk production.
Major Functions of Phosphorus
-A vital mineral of bone, teeth & antler formation.
-Is used as a component of protein in soft tissue.
-Aids in milk production.
Major Functions of Magnesium
-Is essential for normal skeletal development, as a constituent
of bone.
-Works in conjunction with calcium & phosphorus for proper
bone development.
-Also necessary for many enzyme systems in the body.
-Aids in carbohydrate metabolism.
Major Functions of Sodium
-Plays a major part in regulating body. fluids and is important
in making digestive juices.
-Also associated with muscle contraction.

Directions
Once
you have selected your site, remove all vegetation from the
chosen site area approximately 4 feet in diameter. Once the
ground is cleared, rake the soil to loosen and make a slight
depression in the site so that it will hold some rainfall,
making runoff less likely. Spread the entire contents of this
bag (6 lbs.) over the site area. Do not cover the minerals. If
you want immediate deer action on the site, wet site with a
gallon of water after applying Rack-Up.
Reapplication: To keep the supplement
site established once deer have begun actively consuming the
Rack-Up, you will need to reapply every 3 months. Also, use
Rack-Up in your active Deer Cane sites to boost the beneficial
minerals available in those sites throughout the year.

Site
Selection Tips
Picking
the right spot to make a supplemental site is very important.
Deer instinctively want to conceal themselves from predators,
therefore we recommend finding a shaded area on the edge of a
deer crossing where deer normally conceal themselves. Choose a
site at least 10 feet off of normally active deer trails. Keep
in mind that heavier clay type soils will hold the minerals for
a longer period of time, whereas the sandier soils tend to have
the minerals leach out a little sooner. When possible make
supplemental sites near an available water source.

When
to Use Rack-Up
Deer
seek sources of minerals for different reasons. Many times deer
will frequent a mineral site out of habit and other times they
come ready to consume seemingly as much as they can find. The
key to providing a good source of minerals is consistency, so
put Rack-Up out immediately into your mineral sites to start
patterning deer to your sites right now. Rack-Up has Deer Cane
added to it to lure deer into your new mineral sites all year
long as deer seek out the source of an odor they instinctively
need.

Mineral
Site - Activity Chart
It
is true that deer actually consume different quantities of
minerals during each season of the year. By instinct deer will
pattern themselves around mineral sources that they can depend
on to supply them with the minerals that they need during any
given season. Look at the Mineral Site - Activity Chart below to
see what to expect during each season.
MINERAL SITE - ACTIVITY CHART
Early Spring Heavy consumption
of minerals by does carrying fawns, and bucks building up
mineral reserves needed in new antler growth after their antler
drop
Spring - Heavy consumption of
minerals by lactating does, and by bucks using up mineral
reserves growing new racks.
Summer - Consumption of
minerals by both does and bucks to aid them in many areas
including digestion & antler development.
Fall - Consumption continues
into the fall as deer begin to prepare for cold weather.
Winter - Consumption continues
throughout the winter period. However, during the rut... doe
consumption will increase & buck consumption decreases.
Mineral sites are often used by rutting bucks as a scrape and
are heavily marked as they look for the does that have
frequented their site.
